Learn the Art of Sourdough Baking at Rüdi's Bakehouse
Imagine pulling a beautifully risen loaf from your oven, hearing the crackle of its golden crust as it cools, and filling your home with the unmistakable aroma of freshly baked sourdough.
In this highly hands-on 4-hour workshop, you'll step behind the scenes at Rüdi's and learn the techniques our team uses every day to create artisan bread.
Limited to just four participants, the workshop offers plenty of personal guidance as you mix, shape, ferment and bake your own sourdough.
Whether you're a complete beginner or you've struggled to achieve consistent results at home, we'll help you build the skills, confidence and understanding needed to bake exceptional sourdough for yourself, your family and friends.
Why Only Four Participants?
Most baking classes focus on demonstrations. We've intentionally limited this workshop to just four participants so every person receives personalised guidance, hands-on practice and direct feedback throughout the session.
Hosted inside our working bakery, you'll learn the same artisan principles that guide our baking here at Rüdi's. Rather than simply watching, you'll be actively mixing, shaping, fermenting and baking your own bread throughout the workshop.
You'll spend less time observing and more time baking.
What You'll Learn
During the workshop you'll gain practical experience, learning:
- The difference between yeasted and sourdough breads
- How to manage, maintain and care for your sourdough starter
- How to build a dough, stretching & folding, signs of fermentation, resting times, proofing and shaping a dough
- How to make, and bake, a hybrid bread and a basic sourdough bread
What You'll Take Home
Every participant will leave the workshop with:
- A Rüdi's sourdough essentials kit ($85) that includes:
- Sourdough starter
- Banneton (dough proofing basket)
- Dough scraper
- Bread lame (scoring knife)
- A recipe and instruction guidebook
- A bread that you'll prepare and bake during the workshop
- A dough that'll proof overnight and that you'll bake at home the following morning
- The confidence to continue your sourdough baking journey and impress your family and friends!
Refreshments Included
Enjoy a relaxed bakery experience with a glass from our neighbours at Mr Pickles's (tap beer, first pour wine or nan-alcoholic) and a selection of sourdough breads and cheeses during the workshop.
