In this interactive, hands-on baking experience, Stefan will equip you with the knowledge and skills to bake sourdough bread at home. You will prepare two doughs at the workshop, baking one during the workshop and the other to bake at home the next morning. You'll also leave with all the instructions and equipment to continue your sourdough journey.
The workshop is suitable for bread making novices with an interest in natural fermentation and making sourdough bread at home.
You'll learn:
- The difference between yeasted and sourdough breads
- How to manage, maintain and care for your sourdough starter
- How to build a dough, stretching & folding, signs of fermentation, resting times, proofing and shaping a dough
- How to make, and bake, a hybrid bread and a basic sourdough bread
You'll leave the workshop with:
- A Rüdi's sourdough essentials kit (valued at over $60)
- Sourdough starter
- Banneton (dough proofing basket)
- Dough scraper
- Bread lame (scoring knife)
- A recipe and instruction booklet
- A bread you've baked during the course
- A dough that'll proof overnight that you'll bake at home the following morning
- The confidence to continue your sourdough baking and impress your family and friends
What to bring:
- A small jar to transport your sourdough starter
- An apron (optional)
- Any questions you might have
